I improved as an intern by being able to take better feedback about my work and use it to improve what I have made. Before this internship, I saw feedback about my work as troublesome because I would have to go back and redo or change my work. Now I see feedback as a chance to make my work better and show my intelligence. This internship will affect the decisions I make for the rest of my life. While at this internship I learned that it is very important to focus on the detail of what ever you work on. If you do not focus on the detail of your work your audience could possibly get distracted from your intended message. This WLE will change my decisions because now that I have experienced Deloitte, I am striving to focus on as much detail as I can on anything that I do. Add Comment Blog 10 12/23/2011
As a result of my Work Learning Experience I have learned that being a professional is knowing what you need to do and how to get it done. A problem I have always had when I was growing up was letting other people take care of my problems. After working at Deloitte I see that to be a professional you have to know how to do your job to be successful and you cannot rely on some else. This was important for me to learn because now I have experienced that, in the real world you have to take care of your own work or no one else will. blog 8 12/23/2011

During the course of my internship at Deliotte I have learned important things about myself, the things that I have learned are crucial for my success in college and the working world after college. I have learned that I have to focus on the detail of all my work and this is important because if I am more detailed in my work then my work will be of higher quality. The main problem that I have encountered so far while working at Deloitte is my attention for detail. While working at Deliotte I am able to see what kind of work you have to produce to be successful. Now I realize that if I want to go far in life I have to pay attention to all detail in anything that I am trying to complete. I addressed this issue by trying my best to fully finish whatever I start and by focusing all my intellect in the detail of the project. While at Deloitte I worked on a project with two other interns from impact, I used my creativity to brainstorm a schedule and activities in order to have high school students to come and learn about Deloitte. What I know now about this profession is that 95% of what consultants do is basically research. Consultants research everything about their client, its competitors, market trends and strategies to deliver the best solution to the client in the end. The work done at Deloitte is important because they help people manage, make, invest, and use currency. This internship will remind me in the future to always be detailed, being detailed is one of the most important things you can do because if you are detailed then you can even learn more because you focus on the little things as well as the big picture. When I reflect on the leadership skills and think about which leadership skills I use at my internship, the skills I use the most are critical thinking and communicating powerfully. I use critical thinking at my internship to analyze data I have gathered to support my project, decide if it is relevant or not and then explain the data I have gathered to my audience. I use communicating powerfully to interact with other interns about our group project, report to my mentor about the project I am personally working on and take feedback about my work. Out of these two skills I think my mentor uses both equally. My mentor Pauline Le compiles information about clients, and then selects the best option for that particular client using analytical and critical thinking skills. Pauline also uses communicating powerfully to network with peers and associates in her field in order to improve on business techniques and strategies. Blog 5 11/28/2011
Today at my internship I focused on the two main projects that i was assigned. The first project I worked on was the Deloitte academy project. For this project my fellow classmates and I had to brainstorm a lesson plan that would be used to help educate high school students about what Deloitte is and what they would need to do in order to acquire a job at Deloitte. The second project that I was assigned was a San Francisco public school research project. For this project my assignment was to evaluate two San Francisco schools and why one receives more parental support than the other. After I have evaluated them, I have to give my recommendation for which school is better, explain why and then purpose marketing strategies in order to get parents more involved. So far on my personal project I have made and revised a power point with statistical information about both schools, but I am still in the process of making it better. I am also still working on the Deloitte Academy project with my classmates. Blog #4 11/28/2011
My first day at the Deloitte branch left me a little stumped because i did not have any clue what I could help Deloitte improve on. Although, Jen Powell already had an idea for what I along with my two classmates could help with. The project Jen had in mind was Deloitte academy. Deloitte is a big business and most people who do not have a background in business do not know what Deloitte is. So for this project we were assigned to create a lesson plan for high school students who would come to Deloitte to learn about what goes on behind the scenes. The reason I am excited to intern at Deloitte is because of the relaxed, professional and knowledgeable environment that I am in. Another plus is the building is extremely cool. Blog 3 11/11/2011
In the San Francisco Deloitte branch, my responsibilities somewhat vary from week to week. I have an assigned mentor which I work with every Tuesday which is Pauline Le. Pauline gives me small projects to work on for the day or some that can continue from one week to another. Besides my mentors assignments, I work on the Deloitte Academy with three other school mates. We, as a trio, are helping Deloitte structure an effective learning curriculum for high school students so they can be more informed about Deloitte. Typical tasks so far that I have been assigned revolve around clientele research. I start my work day by getting a visitors pass on the bottom floor; I go to the 14th floor to get a temporary pass which I return when I leave. Depending on what Jen Powell has planned for the day, I will report to either her or my mentor Pauline Le. I start of my work with whatever Pauline needs done regarding clients, or I will continue a project which I am already working on. We work until lunch, which we can take in the office café or walk outside and get lunch together. My day resumes with me continuing to work my assigned project; if I am done early, sometimes Pauline will give me time to work on my blogs. Blog 2 11/11/2011
My mentor’s name is Pauline Le. Pauline is a senior manager of strategic consulting at Deloitte. Pauline’s typical day varies because of the type of work consultants do. Consultants at Deloitte work with a variety of clients to help improve the client’s business or productivity. Specifically, Pauline works mostly with hospital-based clients whose locations are spread across the nation. So, Pauline’s weekly schedule could be in a different location every day because consultants usually work at the clients business in which they are trying to improve. Originally, Pauline was biology major in college; she told me that she liked to work with hospitals but disliked the clinical side of the practice. Pauline chose to do consulting because of the flexibility and the ability to continue working with hospitals because of her background in biology. Blog #1 11/04/2011
